The Shore Capital Advisory Board is comprised of a diverse group of highly successful executives and entrepreneurs. Each Advisory Board member has a consistent track record of generating substantial growth at the companies they have led or invested in. Advisory Board members are actively involved with the internal processes and investment decisions at Shore Capital.
Robert K. Burgess
Since retiring as Chairman and CEO of Pulte Homes, Inc. in December 2001, Robert has been engaged as a senior advisor with Glencoe Capital and Long Point Capital, middle-market private equity firms. His role includes evaluating financial transactions and assisting portfolio companies in improving their operations.
Robert joined Pulte Homes, Inc. in 1983 as Senior Vice President Corporate Development. During his 19 year career, he also held the positions of Division President, President and Chief Operating Officer and finally Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1993 through 2001. Under his leadership, Pulte became the largest U.S. homebuilder growing from $700 million to $7 billion in revenues and was named the #1 Quality Builder by J.D. Powers. The company had homebuilding and mortgage operations in 43 markets in 25 states, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Argentina. During 2001, Robert led the acquisition of the leading US active adult homebuilder, Del Webb Corporation, then the largest transaction in the industry.
Prior to Pulte, Robert was Partner-in-Charge of Management Consulting Services for Plante & Moran, one of the nation's largest regional accounting firms. He was responsible for starting and building a multi-dimensional management consulting practice with focus on manufacturing, health care, information systems and operations analysis. Robert also held various management consulting positions with Touche, Ross & Co. and manufacturing and information systems positions with General Electric.
Robert serves on the boards of directors of Amerisure Companies, a national mutual property and casualty and workers compensation insurance company, and two private equity owned companies; Homesphere, Inc. and Savage Sports Corporation.
In the philanthropic and academic sector, Robert is a member of numerous boards of directors including; Michigan State University Foundation, where he is the past chairman, Michigan State University President's Cabinet, Michigan Biotechnology Institute and William Beaumont Hospital, where he serves on numerous committees and is chairman of the Beaumont Research Institute. He also serves as a member of the Board of Advisors for the Center for Global Entrepreneurship, Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Robert received his BS degree from Michigan State University in 1966. He was recently awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University.
